Sustainability
Our commitments to reduce our climate footprint
Rooted in the land and looking to the future, our House is committed to preserving the richness of the terroirs that form the soul of our cuvées. Respect for the soil, responsible viticultural practices, and the protection of biodiversity guide every step of our approach to guarantee a sustainable balance for the Champagne landscape.
Reducing our environmental footprint is a priority: optimizing energy and water consumption, using an eco-responsible production chain, lighter and recyclable packaging, and ensuring complete traceability from vine to bottle.
Transparent and evolving, our approach aims for responsible excellence—because preserving nature means ensuring the longevity and authentic expression of our Champagnes for generations to come.
Vineyard side
The majority of the vineyards used to produce the Balincourt range are certified HVE and VDC. For several years, the Champagne region has been implementing more environmentally friendly practices. Wine estates that adopt these practices, on a voluntary basis, can now obtain the "High Environmental Value" (HVE) certification, created following the Grenelle Environment Forum.
The Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne label is based on 125 measures covering all viticultural practices and the organization of the estate: vineyard management, soil and vine nutrition, soil maintenance, integrated vineyard protection, and waste management.
100% green electricity
At Champagne Balincourt, the electricity consumed is 100% green and certified by Guarantees of Origin (Engie ActiVert).
This means, in practical terms, that all the electricity consumed at Balincourt is produced from renewable sources such as wind, solar, or hydroelectric power, thus avoiding greenhouse gas emissions associated with fossil fuels.
Our electricity consumption represents a genuine commitment to
a more environmentally friendly lifestyle and an active contribution to the
energy transition.
100% recycled cardboard
Aware of the challenges related to preserving natural resources and reducing waste, Champagne Balincourt has chosen to use cardboard packaging made from recycled fibers.
Since April 2026, all our packaging boxes have been made from 100% recycled fibers.
This approach is certified by the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council), an international non-governmental, non-profit organization that certifies responsible forest management.
It guarantees that wood and paper products (furniture, packaging, notebooks) come from environmentally sound, socially beneficial, and economically viable sources.
Finally, eliminating background color has allowed us to save over 95% on ink (ink coverage less than 5%).
